WARNING: Spoilers ahead if you haven’t seen the pilot episode of The Night Shift
If you watched the first episode of The Night Shift then you learned something that may have surprised you about Drew. Beneath his act of being a ladies man, it was revealed that Drew was gay, but was choosing not to tell anyone about it.
Check out the interview with Brendan Fehr to learn more about Drew, including how TC serves as his big brother on the show and what it meant to their friendship when TC revealed that he knew Drew was a closeted gay man. How Drew’s decision to stay in the closet is his personal struggle and why he doesn’t want to be the “poster boy” for gay men, why he doesn’t want endorsement, but acceptance. What Drew’s fears are and why he’s kept his secret for so long.
Fehr also discusses Drew’s struggles as a doctor in a modern hospital after having been a medic overseas and how he will have to unlearn some things he learned overseas when on the night shift and how he will have to unlearn some things he learned in the E.R. when he’s back overseas. How Drew will always have TC’s back, but will also let TC fight his own battles when he feels it is necessary.
The Night Shift airs Tuesday nights at 10/9C on NBC.
