The Originals season 4 started with a sizable time jump and now rumors are circulating that it will end with one too. TVLine is reporting that The Vampire Diaries spin-off is evidently planning a spin-off of its own — one with direct roots to The Vampire Diaries and its series finale. Rumors are circulating that the new series will be centered around The Originals‘ Hope, but not as fans know her in season 4.

Possible Spoiler Alert for The Originals Season 4 Finale!
Though things are just in the rumor stages now, it looks like The Originals will be setting up a drastically different timeline for season 5. The plan is that The Originals will jump ahead in time to set up a world where Hope, Klaus and Hayley’s daughter, is in her late teens. Casting is apparently underway for the new Hope. She (and the time jump) could appear as early as the season 4 finale.
Though the time jump would obviously affect The Originals season 5, the main reason seems to be to set up a spin-off with Hope at the center. The speculation is that Hope will be moving from New Orleans to Mystic Falls sometime very soon. The rumor is that Hope will enroll in Caroline and Alaric’s school that was set up in the Vampire Diaries series finale. It is therefore very possible that the possible spin-off will be a series set in Mystic Falls in a school setting, which is exactly how The Vampire Diaries began.
These rumors have been backed up by comments from Originals executive producer Julie Plec. At the time of the Vampire Diaries series finale Plec talked about Caroline and Alaric’s school, among other developments, and said, “I think there are future shows down the line that can be spawned out of this world and could tell good stories.” Plec added, “The idea of [Caroline and Alaric’s] school as a safe haven for young supernatural beings certainly has a lot of relevance for Hope.”
So what do you think of a spin-off centered on a teenage Hope? Would you tune in? Is it too similar to The Vampire Diaries?
