Something to Talk About
Mauricio arrives home to his idyllic home, doting wife and adorable daughter, the perfect picture of domestic bliss. Even though the accusations swirling about him haven’t been clarified, we have to assume that they have to do with infidelity. Kyle doesn’t bring the outside BS into her home because she doesn’t want the negative energy around her family. Well, she’s doing a piss poor job of it since she starts complaining about Lisa almost immediately after Mauricio walks in the door.
Kyle’s feelings are hurt because Lisa has made several jokes about the tabloid rumors. She’s especially peeved that Lisa brought it up around Portia who is far too young to understand what was going on. Mauricio believes that Lisa and Brandi are having issues with Kyle, and this situation gives them ammunition to use against her. In Brandi’s case, I don’t believe that to be true because she’s been through a similar situation, only worse because her husband was guilty. Brandi even claims she was trying to lend Kyle some support.
We get Lisa’s side of things when she tells Ken that she thinks it’s horrible about this “thing” that’s gone down in the press, and she doesn’t know whether it’s true or not. She immediately follows this statement with the assertion that she doesn’t believe it. Which is it, Lisa? Ken is much more steadfast in his belief that Mauricio is innocent. He says Mauricio is a buddy of his, and he wouldn’t let people say something like that.
Kyle’s upset that Lisa has brought it up several times recently, but when the news first broke, the Brit stayed mum. Apparently, she didn’t come out publicly on social media or even call Kyle to lend her support. It’s only after a story was “leaked” that Lisa and Brandi were bringing it up and after Kyle felt attacked when Lisa came out to say that people shouldn’t believe the rumors. Kyle says Lisa did this to benefit her own public image and not to come to Kyle’s aid.
Cats Always Land On Their Feet
Now for someone who is struggling with a real problem: Carlton. Her cat fell from a balcony, and she can see in the feline’s eyes that he’s in pain. She claims he’s walking funny, which would be a more concrete indicator of a problem. The cat must not be in too rough of shape because he’s all to eager to escape his carrier, and the vet’s suggested course of treatment is acupuncture. Carlton’s deep affinity for animals tells her sticking needles in his face makes perfect sense. She claims to see some light behind his little concave eyes which she believes is the release of pain.
A Bad Idea or the Worst Idea?
Kyle and Joyce go to get a facial, and Joyce suggests the idea of a getaway in Palm Springs. Joyce wants to include the other girls, and to her credit, Kyle doesn’t discourage her. She simply states that Joyce is sweet and innocent and has no idea what she’s in for.
Joyce, who confronted Lisa over a ridiculous issue the last time the women got together, thinks Lisa should appreciate the fact that she confronted her about the fact that she was hurt when Lisa didn’t express abundant enthusiasm when Joyce offered to straighten her tousled hair. But even with all of the group’s issues, Joyce thinks a trip would be a great opportunity for everyone to get to know each other better. In my opinion, they already know everything they need to.
Did You Say Motherly or Smothering?
Lisa, who’s having trouble getting her little birds to make even the occasional visit to the nest, is preparing dinner for Pandora and Jason. Jason breaks the news that he’s been going on job interviews in the Big Apple. Lisa says she moved to California because her daughter wanted to attend Pepperdine University, so they can’t up an leave her and Ken now. Jason says it’s a great opportunity, but Lisa and Ken can’t be swayed. I doubt Pandora and Jason were packed for the guilt trip that Lisa takes them on. She tells them they’ve got to do what they want to do, but she’ll be very unhappy. Lisa has no intention of following the couple to New York, so she’s going to do everything in her power to make sure they don’t leave.
Now You Can Step On His Face
Yolanda’s composer husband David Foster is getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Assorted bigwigs in the music biz show up as well as Carlton, Brandi and Lisa. This honor only serves to further inflate the man’s healthy ego. David uses the event as an opportunity to shamelessly promote his collaboration with Stevie Wonder. Yolanda is drinking the Kool-Aid because she states that now that these two geniuses have come together, they’ve made something the whole world is going to want to listen to. Yolanda is also pleased when her husband acknowledge her role in his success because, after all, behind every great man there is a great woman. Even though this particular woman wasn’t in the picture for the majority of the man’s career.
Rite of Passage
Kim is more of a nervous wreck as usual because the time has come for her daughter Kimberly to graduate high school. Kyle says Kim’s whole purpose is her children, and picturing her sister with an empty nest makes her worry about her a little bit. The often absent Kathy Hilton shows up and her sparkling personality makes me glad she’s not a more frequent presence on the show. Kyle says how important it is for her and Kim to see their daughters graduating and going off to high school because those are things they didn’t get to do.
Girl Talk
Whenever Brandi goes shopping, it always seems to be for something skimpy. Last time it was lingerie with Carlton and, this time, bikinis with Lisa. Lisa is so busy with her restaurants, she tells Brandi she doesn’t want to spend her free time fighting with the other women. She wants to simply have fun. She’s pissed off that Joyce would put a damper on things by bringing up such an inconsequential issue. Especially when these women have much larger issues that they are avoiding. Lisa has decided to give Joyce a free pass, but she’s going to have to prove it to her.
She Kissed a Girl
While not all the new cast members are fitting in, Carlton and Brandi are getting along swimmingly. Brandi reveals to Lisa that she and Carlton made out in a hot tub. Lisa says these women are either at each other’s throats or down them. Brandi claims it was just innocent fun, but Lisa is obviously taken aback.
