Though they share a connected universe, crossovers between The Originals and The Vampire Diaries have been negligible to nonexistent. The absence has left fans earning for something, anything more than one or two characters travelling from one show to another. The wait is finally over. TVLine reports that the first big crossover between The Originals and The Vampire Diaries will happen this season and span two episodes.
The Vampire Diaries and The Originals are both heading to Fridays for the rest of the season. The move makes the time more ripe than ever for a crossover to be staged. The CW president Mark Pedowitz said the crossover won’t be on a scale like the annual Arrow and The Flash crossover but it does sound bigger than anything the sister series have done together before now.
The story for the crossover involves Stefan needing refugee after the events of episode 14 (of this season) on The Vampire Diaries. Stefan will travel to the bar St. James Infirmary in New Orleans and run into Klaus Mikaelson. Stefan will stay in New Orleans for the following The Original episode. This episode involves Stefan assisting Klaus with a matter that ends up effects both characters.

The reunion of Klaus and Stefan is enough to be excited about for some fans. Some people probably want a bit more. In fact a vast majority probably want something very specific from the crossover, Caroline also reuniting with Klaus. Executive producer Julie Plec has answered that question for fans…. kind of. Plec played mostly coy but she did admit that Caroline would have a role in the crossover but the details were left mysterious.
Plec would neither confirm nor deny the existence of a scene between Caroline and Klaus. Though Plec’s refusal to answer definitively basically ensures that something will happen with one of fandom’s biggest couples, Klaroline. Could it impact Caroline’s current relationship with Stefan?
