In preparation for the premiere of The Vampire Diaries this fall, The CW has released several promotional photos to whet your appetite. Clearly, the network has been working hard for this fall’s marketing campaign, and it looks like they’re trying to pull off that super creepy sexy vibe young women are going crazy for these days.
According to Ian Somerhalder, who plays bad boy vampire Damon on The Vampire Diaries, co-star Nina Dobrev, who plays high school student Elena Gilbert, had never done a love scene on camera before. Still, he didn’t go easy on her since “that would be way out of character.”
After shooting, Dobrev had Somerhalder’s teeth marks all over her body. Ian said he felt awful when she lifted up her shirt and he saw his handiwork. She wasn’t complaining though. She also seemed happy to be caught between Somerhalder and Paul Wesley as well.
“There is something about a man who lurks in the dark”, Dobrey said.
In The Vampire Diaries, Dobrey finds herself as the object of affection between two vampire brothers –one good, one evil–who are at war for her soul and for the souls of her friends, family and all the residents of the small town of Mystic Falls, Virginia.
“There is the appeal of the forbidden — of ‘who’s that mysterious boy in my class’,” said Richelle Mead, author of the best selling young adult book series The Vampire Academy, which has been translated into 22 languages. “There are also plenty of teens who feel that people don’t quite understand them, and here is the other who is not quite the norm. That is very attractive.”
The Vampire Diaries premieres on Thursday, September 10 at 8pm on The CW, and will be paired with Supernatural as part of the network’s horror-themed night.
