The Voice promises anything but the same-old, same-old for the upcoming episodes during a teaser to promote season 12. Returning to the spinning coaches’ chairs are Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton, Alicia Keys and Adam Levine, who will attempt to lead a contestant from one of their teams to victory.
“We get competitive but it’s more about nurturing these people and their dreams,” says Adam in the exclusive NBC teaser.
Blake reveals that he has big plans for the contestants in the show’s upcoming episodes. He scored the winner of season 11 in country singer Sundance Head, who will be joining Blake on his upcoming “Doing It to Country” tour.

“I genuinely love this job, I love this opportunity. I only have one goal when it comes to this show, to win with an artist. It feels so good to say to this person, ‘I knew you could do this,'” Blake remarks.
Still, that doesn’t mean the panel won’t resort to some tricks to get the attention of the singers they want the most during the show’s iconic blind auditions.
“I don’t think there are any boundaries when the coaches make their teams, anything goes!” reveals Alicia.
The clip reveals one instance in which Gwen tries to woo a contestant who is a country singer towards her team, using her romantic connection with Blake as leverage. Her comments turn more sultry than convincing.
Says Gwen of her on- and off-camera partnership with Blake, “I just did a country song with Blake Shelton, I got the hook up!”
Blake responds tongue-in-cheek by saying, “That’s so inappropriate to talk about us hooking up!”

Each new season allows the coaches to recall their humble beginnings as singers and songwriters in the business, which makes them want to nurture their contestants all the more.
“What got me into music was what I think got us all into music. My mother had a pretty impressive record collection and I grew up in a house where music was played all the time,” Alicia reveals in the clip.
Also chiming in was Gwen, who reveals some surprising musical influences in shaping her love of music and fashion. “My very first inspiration was ‘The Sound of Music.’ It inspired me in music and in fashion for the rest of my life. The idea of being an inspiration to someone else is such an unbelievable blessing,” she says.
The Voice returns to NBC with the debut of season 13 on Monday, February 27 at 8/7c with coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani and Alicia Keys.
