It’s Tuesday night and time for The Voice live results show! Last night presented some pretty spectacular moments from Team Cee Lo and Team Adam, as I hope you all would agree. On the other hand, there were some performances that we could have done without. You know how this thing goes after last week. America’s votes will be announced and three from each team will be automatically safe from elimination. The bottom three of each team will then sing for their lives! From those three, their celebrity coaches will choose who will stay and who will walk away empty handed.
With all the redundant details out there, now we can move on to the good stuff! Tonight’s special guest performance comes from Jessie J accompanied by Team Christina, so sit back, relax and let us do all the work.
Once again, this is a live blog so feel free to comment below along with the show.
Carson Daly lets the audience know that performers from last night topped the iTunes charts last night. Juliet Simms and Tony Lucca hit #1 and #2 on the rock chart! Good job, guys!
Guest Performance
Jessie J ft. Team Christina
“Domino”
I wasn’t aware that Jessie J is a coach for the UK version of The Voice. I digress … Her outfit is definitely more bizarre than what she’s doing up onstage. Adorned with glitz and glam, Jessie is simply standing center-stage, singing and working the crowd. She joined by Team Christina who provide the background “ooh ooh’s.” You can hear them a lot better than Team Adam, backing Gym Class Heroes.
Team Adam
Adam: “Guys, this is the part of the process that’s so unnatural and strange, because you guys are singers … I love you all so much.”
Those saved by America:
Mathai
Tony Lucca
Pip
Those three skip off back-stage while Kim Yarbrough (who should have been safe), Katrina Parker and Karla Davis are sent to prepare for their last chance performances.
Team Cee Lo
Cee Lo: With tears in his eyes, “I hope in your heart of hearts that I’ve done right by you … You’ve all got great futures ahead of you.”
Those saved by America:
Juliet Simms
Jamar Rogers
James Massone
Juliet, Jamar and James (funny, right?) slap some hands before heading backstage. That leaves Erin Martin, Tony Vincent and Cheesa to get ready for those last chance performances. America got all right except for James, I think. Why isn’t Tony automatically safe?
In the Sprint Lounge, Christina Milian asks Tony Lucca and Pip, “Who do you guys think Adam’s gonna save?” Talk about tough questions! Tony laughs it off while Pip gives the politically correct answer. Nice.
Team Adam – Last Chance Performances
Artist: Kim Yarbrough
Song: “Spotlight” by Jennifer Hudson
Okay, so last night Kim was a bit out of her element somehow. Adele was a little too much voice to sink into. Jennifer Hudson is right up her alley. Diva status has been reached once again with this selection. I think she could connect to the crowd more, though. Her eyes are shut a lot.
Artist: Karla Davis
Song: “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raitt
Well, Karla’s back at home, too. She looks a lot more comfortable tonight with a more slow and steady song choice. The cowboy boots stuck around, but she’s found a way to keep up with her breath this time around. Is it enough, though?
Artist: Katrina Parker
Song: “Don’t Speak” by No Doubt
This is by far one of my favorite songs. I really hope she does it justice! I think if Katrina wanted to give the song a more lounge, laid-back, cool kid vibe that she should have changed the arrangement. A better song choice probably would have worked better. Katrina sounds good, showing her power, yet something doesn’t quite match up.
Kim and Karla join Katrina (weird, right?) on stage.
Blake: “I just felt the urgency of what this performance is from you two … I’d lean more towards Katrina.”
Christina: “For me personally, um … I definitely agree with what Blake said. Hands down, Katrina.”
Cee Lo: “I gotta say in terms of (a lot of things that go into a performance) Katrina.”
Adam: “Guys, take a look around and realize where you are … regardless of what’s going on now … look at this man, this is crazy! Katrina, you’re the winner.”
Saved:
Katrina Parker
Going Home:
Karla Davis
Kim Yarbrough
Karla’s last words: “I just wanna thank the people behind the scenes. The make-up artists and the band. Thanks, guys.” That’s definitely something you don’t hear everyday!
Back to the Sprint Lounge with Christina Milian, Adam Levine and Katrina Parker! Adam says, “I had to go with what the best thing was … it’s a little weird in here, though. Can we move some things around?” It really is weird back there. The Sprint Lounge does not look fun.
Team Cee Lo – Last Chance Performances
Artist: Tony Vincent
Song: “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of These)” by The Eurythmics
Obviously, Tony is channeling the Marilyn Manson remake because this is CREEPY! Close-up on Tony’s rock-star eyeliner, that’s all you need. He sounds great. I still don’t understand why he’s in the bottom three. I suppose the young, screaming girls of America weren’t voting for him.
Artist: Cheesa
Song: “All By Myself” by Celine Dion
Yes, she sounds good. The powerhouse vocals have come out to play. A shining moment, literally, in the spotlight with the big note is given. She growls a few bars. Memorable, surely. I would say she’s safe tonight.
Artist: Erin Martin
Song: “Your Song” by Elton John
I’m going to point out the good in the performance. Her hair and make-up looks fantastic. She really is a pretty girl. This is Elton John, living legend of lyrics. Her voice is just not up to par, at all. She keeps going flat, too.
Tony and Cheesa return to the stage, joining Erin.
Adam: “I’m a little pissed off right now … Why did it take this long for you guys to sing like it was your last chance? … I’d save Cheesa.”
Blake: “I was reminded why I loved Erin’s voice in the blind auditions … And for the first time, Tony won me over … Cheesa knocked it completely out of the park.”
Adam: “No one’s gonna come close to winning this until they do finally what you guys did!”
Christina: “I feel that connection in this moment, that it is down to the wire it is their last shot. My choice would be Cheesa.”
Cee Lo: “Erin, you make me smile, you make me happy. Cheesa, I feel like your big brother. Tony, you inspire me. My heart says Tony, but my heart says Cheesa.”
Saved:
Cheesa
Going Home:
Tony Vincent
Erin Martin
Cee Lo: Runs up on-stage and speaks to both Tony and Erin. Carson hands him a mic, “I love my people, man.”
Alright, so all the teams have sent four home now. I’ll remind everyone of the team rosters up to this point.
Team Adam
Katrina Parker
Mathai
Tony Lucca
Pip
Team Cee Lo
Cheesa
Juliet Simms
Jamar Rogers
James Massone
Team Blake
RaeLynn
Jordis Unga
Jermaine Paul
Erin Willet
Team Christina
Lindsey Pavao
Ashley De La Rosa
Chris Mann
Jesse Campbell
There you have it! The Voice is amongst these 16 names. Who is your pick to win, thus far? Did America, Adam and Cee Lo get it right tonight? Definitely some hiccups here and there, but overall, I believe it’s a pretty good bunch.
That’s it for this week. Make sure you tune back in next Monday for more live performances! The Voice airs on NBC at 8/7c.
