The Voice is going to expand when the new Knockout rounds begin at the end of October. NBC has scheduled two two-hour episodes on Monday October 29 and Tuesday, October 30 which will feature the new twist that will trim the field down to 20 singers before the live voting rounds begin. As a result, new episodes of Tuesday night comedies Go On and The New Normal will be pushed back to 10pm on October 30.
Once the Battle Rounds are over, each coach will have 10 singers left. The Knockout Round will once again pit members of the same team against each other, but with a twist.
All of the singers will get to pick their own songs to perform, and they won’t learn who they’re competing against until the night of the show, just minutes before they perform. The coach will announce what two singers will compete, they will each get to sing their own song, then the coach will keep one and eliminate the other.
But there are no Steals in the Knockout Round, so it’s stay or go for all the singers.
At the end of the Knockout Rounds, each coach will have five singers left heading into the live rounds. There it’s all up to America’s vote as two singers from each team will be eliminated each week, eventually leaving just one singer from each of the four teams to battle it out in the finale.
The Knockout Round promises to be incredibly tense as coaches are forced to pit the best of the best against each other, leaving them with just five chances to win.
The Voice Battle Rounds will continue for the next two weeks, Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm.
