The critically-acclaimed series, Veronica Mars, was officially cancelled last month, despite a save-the-show campaign that involved thousands of Mars Candy Bars being sent to the CW network. Creator Rob Thomas offered a glimmer of hope to fans by announcing his plans to make a feature film that would bring closure to the things left hanging in the series finale.
Since then, no other major details have been released regarding the possible Veronica Mars film, but fans can catch Thomas on the third season DVD talking about a new direction for the beloved series.
The six-disc DVD set contains a feature called “Pitching Season 4,” an in-depth interview with Thomas, where he explains a storyline that follows Veronica (Kristen Bell) working as a rookie FBI agent some time after the third season finale.
Other features include “Going Undercover with Rob Thomas,” which is a look back at the most memorable moments from the third season, a “Webisode Gallery” that contains cast interviews and various set tours, “Unaired Scenes” with introductions by Thomas and a “Gag Reel.”
“We are thrilled to release the final season of Veronica Mars, a series that developed a devoted, passionate fan following based on its smart writing and superb acting, ” WHV Vice President of TV Marketing Rosemary Markson said. “Veronica Mars: The Complete Third Season DVD will deliver more unpredictable twists and turns as Veronica faces new daily challenges. We are confident fans are enthusiastic to add this final chapter along with an exciting array of extras to their DVD collection.”
Aside from the possible movie and the upcoming DVD, fans can also look forward to the possibility of a Veronica Mars comic book series. Last month, Thomas told the Toronto Star that the American comic book company, DC comics, has expressed interest in turning the fourth season of the show into a comic series.
The third season DVD of Veronica Mars will be available by October 23. It has been priced at $59.98.
