]]>The Winter Olympics won’t happen until next year, and the Summer Games, not in another three years, but the culinary Olympics are here. At least on Top Chef.
Tonight on the Bravo cooking show, the five remaining chef-testants take on a challenge based on the Bocuse d’Or, a cooking competition commonly referred to as the Culinary Olympics, established by legendary French chef Paul Bocuse. Guest judges include Jerome Bocuse and Thomas Keller.
The Bocuse d’Or is a two-day biennial global culinary contest founded by Bocuse and widely considered to be the Olympics of cooking. The participating chefs from different countries have to prepare dishes in 5 hours and 35 minutes, in front of an army of judges, inspectors, sponsors, organizers, journalists and a noisy crowd of more than 1,000.
Just a little trivia: Since the start of the contest in 1988, no American has placed higher than sixth place. The French had so far dominated the arena, with six gold medals.
Anyway, back to Top Chef. The five remaining contestants are the V brothers Michael and Bryan, lone girl Jennifer, bearded Kevin, and Eli, who will probably go home tonight. Catch Top Chef on Bravo.
