Last night, VH1 gave celebreality the magic treatment as it launched its newest competitive series, Celebracadabra. The premiere episode featured seven TV and film stars, including Celebrity Fit Club host Ant, Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, comedian Hal Sparks, singer Carnie Wilson, 80s icon C. Thomas Howell, Kid N’ Play’s Chris “Kid” Reid, and actress Lisa Ann Walter, as they battle it out for the title of “Best Celebrity Magician.”
For those who are not familiar with Celebracadabra, the series follows celebrities as they attempt to learn and perform tricks normally left to the professionals. With the help of their professional magician partners, the celebrity contestants try to master street magic, children’s magic, comedy magic, cabaret magic, and all sorts of tricks as they are judged by a panel of superstar magicians, which includes Max Maven and Jeff McBride. Each week, one of the celebrities will be eliminated until the final two compete in Las Vegas for the Grand Illusion finale. Ultimately, the winner will earn the covered title and will take home the grand prize of $100,000.
Singer Carnie Wilson, who is paired with magician coach Simon Lovell, has already been eliminated, leaving the competition with six contestants in the running. Find out if these newbie magicians can perfect their tricks before hitting the streets to perform close-up wonders for unsuspecting crowds on Celebracadabra, which airs every Sunday at 9pm on VH1.
Serving as host to Celebracadabra is actor and magician Jonathan Levit, who regularly performs at the Magic Castle in Hollywood, California. Prior to Celebracadabra, Levit has hosted the television series Miracle Hunters and Green Wheels. He has also guest starred on shows like The Others, The Huntress, and The Bold and the Beautiful. His most recent credits include War of the Worlds 2: The Next Wave, Never Say Macbeth, and Tortilla Heaven, just to name a few.
