As I mentioned in my recap, last week’s episode of Community was not my favorite. It wasn’t bad by any stretch, and I would still put it up against any week’s Two and a Half Men, it just left me wanting more. Well boy was I wrong, there was more to this episode, I was just too busy following the main story to notice.
Let me explain. During last week’s episode of Community, “The Psychology of Letting Go,” I was pretty sure Abed was up to something, I just didn’t know what. In fact there was a moment towards the end where I was pretty sure I saw him delivering a baby a baby in the bed of a truck. I mentioned that in my recap but I really just thought my mind was playing tricks on me.
Well leave it to the good folks at Community to pull one over on us. Turns out Abed really was having his own storyline that involved delivering a baby and it was right there for us all to see. NBC has done us a huge solid by compiling a video of all of Abed’s antics during last week’s episode.
After watching the video of Abed’s subliminal storyline, I take back what I said last week about the episode. Initially I thought it was just an OK offering, with nothing too special going on. What I’ve now realized is that I wasn’t paying close enough attention. The episode was genius!
I love when shows reward viewers with little Easter eggs like this. I already can’t wait to go back and watch “The Psychology of Letting Go” and follow Abed’s storyline myself. I consider myself to be an above average Community fan and the fact that I didn’t pick up on the subliminal storyline makes me even more excited to delve into the meta-universe the show has created.
