Get ready to relive the biggest tragedy in the history of Grey’s Anatomy. At the end of the last episode, Meredith and her sisters threw a dinner party, with Callie bringing her new girlfriend, Penny. Unfortunately, Penny turned out to be the doctor who failed to save Derek’s life. Needless to say, Meredith isn’t too pleased to see the woman who informed her that her husband was dead.
In this clip from the next new episode, “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” we see Meredith struggling to deal with Penny’s arrival in her house. While Callie is all smiles and believes that introducing Penny to Arizona is the hardest part of the night, Meredith runs away, carrying a family photo. It’s a scene that’s full of nostalgia, including Derek’s Post-It vows, causing Meredith to run to the bathroom.
Luckily, Alex is at the party and seems to notice that something is going on. Alex and Meredith’s friendship has come a long way, especially since Cristina left town, and the look of concern on his face when he sees Meredith flee is very telling.
Should Meredith confront Penny? Will Callie continue to date her new girlfriend even after learning about her connection to Derek? And will Alex step up as Meredith’s “person” to help her through reliving the trauma?
