NCIS: Los Angeles is moving to Sundays for its eighth season, and it’s kicking things off with a two-hour premiere, “High-Value Target” and “Belly of the Beast.” The mole is still out there, the team’s heading overseas and someone’s about to get hurt.
In these first two episodes, after the agency fails to locate the mole, Under Secretary of Defense Corbin Duggan (guest star Jackson Hurst) insists on new leadership and takes over the LA unit from Hetty and Granger. Also, the team travels to Syria to apprehend a High Value Target, but one of them is severely injured when the mission goes awry.

Watch the promo for the two-part premiere:
It’s mostly about the show’s move to Sundays, but as you can see from the end of it, Hetty’s “something wrong” may be an understatement when it comes to the trouble the team’s in.
Check out a sneak peek as the team gets eyes on the target:
Once the team confirms they have eyes on Asakeem, it would be easier to shoot him, but Sam’s more focused on what’s important: getting out of there alive. (But it’s not like grabbing him is going to be safe.) Callen tells Kensi and Deeks to get out of there if things go south, but they’re not going anywhere. (No, Deeks, not even if it goes “really south.”)
Which NCIS: Los Angeles Character Are You?>>>
See how the mission goes awry in the NCIS: LA season premiere:
Even when they’re transporting a “guest,” there’s still time for some of that good ol’ team banter when Deeks takes his shoes off. When Kensi agrees that his feet actually never smell (but they’re the only part of his body that don’t), he turns the tables on her. “Don’t make me stop this chopper,” Callen interrupts them.
But just as they’re feeling good about putting their target out of the terrorism business, disaster strikes, in the form of a ground-to-air missile fired right at their helicopter.
Are you worried about the team in the helicopter? What are you hoping to see when it comes to the mole hunt?

If it’s on TV — especially if it’s a procedural or superhero show — chances are Meredith watches it. She has a love for all things fiction, starting from a young age with ER and The X-Files on the small screen and the Nancy Drew books. Arrow kicked off the Arrowverse and her true passion for all things heroes. She’s enjoyed getting into the minds of serial killers since Criminal Minds, so it should be no surprise that her latest obsession is Prodigal Son.
