Watch the promo for “Coming Home Was a Mistake”:
It looks like they’re going to be burying Tyler in the next episode — or at least looking like they’re at a funeral. “Nobody wants you here,” Caroline tells Damon, who warns them he’s going to bury them all. Will Stefan let Caroline help him when it comes to going up against his brother? Will he lose him forever like he fears?
Check out the producer’s preview for this TVD episode:
“In season 1, when Stefan felt like everything was getting out of control, he tried to break up with Elena by telling her coming home was a mistake,” executive producer Julie Plec says of the callback in this episode’s title. “And boy oh boy oh boy was it a mistake this time around.”
Tyler Lockwood has returned to Mystic Falls, but “he’s coming home in a box,” the EP continues, calling it “a devastating turn of events for all of our heroes.” “This is someone who was their friend, someone who they loved. For Matt Donovan, it was one of his best friends in the entire world. For Caroline, it was one of her first loves. For Stefan, it represents how far Damon is willing to go to sever his ties with his emotional relationships … It is really, really, really the worst thing Damon could’ve done and now our heroes have to put Tyler to rest.”
Meanwhile, they have no idea that Alaric’s nanny is the second siren, and “he’s going to have to pay the price for his lack of understanding.”

If it’s on TV — especially if it’s a procedural or superhero show — chances are Meredith watches it. She has a love for all things fiction, starting from a young age with ER and The X-Files on the small screen and the Nancy Drew books. Arrow kicked off the Arrowverse and her true passion for all things heroes. She’s enjoyed getting into the minds of serial killers since Criminal Minds, so it should be no surprise that her latest obsession is Prodigal Son.
