Like most of the participants of Dancing with the Stars, season 8 champ Shawn Johnson and runner-up Gilles Marini are now basking in the spotlight, with numerous TV offers here and there. While both haven’t decided on what path they’ll be taking on in their post-show career, they already have an idea of what they won’t be doing.
For Johnson, who’s been offered books and movie deals, she’s determined not to sing on American Idol.
“I met Randy Jackson, and he asked me to sing on American Idol,'” she told Us magazine. “I was like, ‘Um, I’ll stick to dancing.””
Marini, on the other hand, has been plagued by the question of whether he’ll be reprising his role as Dante in the Sex and the City sequel. But it seems that the French actor isn’t keen on coming back.
“It would be such an honor to come back, but I know for a fact that I’m not going to be in the next Sex and the City — or there’s a 99 percent chance I’m not going to be part of it, I should say…I don’t know if I’d say yes or no, but there’s a big chance I’m not doing it,” Marini told TV Guide.
And why would he? Plot-wise, it just wouldn’t make sense for his sexy character to make a re-appearance.
“In the first movie, Dante helped Samantha realize maybe she’s not ready to be married and whatnot. But now she’s back in New York, so is the guy going to go to New York and all of a sudden they’re going to meet?” he said. “I believe it’d be great if I could come back, but it won’t make much sense and it’s pretty much a story between the four girls.”
Though Marini won’t be part of the Sex and the City sequel, bigger and better things are in store for his future. Evidently, he is in talks for a “very big movie” and just inked a recurring role on Brothers & Sisters as Rachel Griffiths’ character’s new love interest.
