Uncertainty fills the air as Veronica Mars enters its fourth season. Either the show takes on a different curve, returns with its current plot line or gets axed.
Veronica Mars, a teen drama, features Kristen Bell as the title character. The show follows the lead in her school years, as well as her espionage endeavors as a private investigator under her father’s wing. The show, which premiered in 2004 on UPN, is now in its third season with the CW network. In addition, the program has earned several awards in a span of two years which includes Television Program of the Year (American Film Institute Awards), and numerous acting awards for Kristen Bell and other co-stars like Enrico Colantoni, plus a couple of nominations from various award giving bodies.
At present, Veronica Mars’ creator Rob Thomas is filming a trailer for an alternative fourth season, which will be submitted to the CW network. So far, the clip only features Kristen Bell, which also hints uncertainly on the return of other cast members. In season three, Veronica Mars is seen taking criminology classes as a freshman at Hearst College in preparation for her internship at the FBI. With this, Rob Thomas is now eyeing a more mature Veronica in the world of procedural crime drama. If approved, the new version of Veronica Mars fast tracks four years in the future and showcases Veronica as a full-blown FBI agent. Subsequently, the network’s executives gets to decide whether to junk it, go with the fresh version or stick to the old.
For now, avid Veronica Mars’ fans will just have to patiently wait for the official verdict. The much-awaited decision will be unfolded at the Upfront on May 17, 2007. To savor this mystery-drama series, catch Veronica Mars, which airs Tuesdays at 9/8C on the CW network.
