Supernatural began filming in Vancouver this week for season 6. However, the show is starting out very different than normal. According to Zap2It, the first episode being filmed will be the fourth episode to air.
SPOILER WARNING: Stop reading now if you want to avoid spoilers about Supernatural‘s sixth season.
The reason for the shift is that the fourth episode will be directed by star Jensen Ackles and in order to give him enough time to properly prepare for his directorial debut, he’s filming first to avoid being overworked with starring and directing.
The episode, titled “Weekend at Bobby’s,” is obviously a very heavy Bobby episode. Jim Beaver tweeted “I knew being the single lead on a series is the hardest job in the acting biz,” The implication isn’t just that Bobby will be the star, but also that Sam and Dean will be marginalized.
Zap2It is also reporting that the episode will guest star Kim Rhodes who first appeared as Sheriff Mills in the zombie-killing season 5 episode, “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid.”
Supernatural‘s sixth season will premiere September 24, meaning “Weekend at Bobby’s” is tentatively scheduled for October 15.
