Game of Thrones season 7 doesn’t premiere until July 16 but rumors have been swirling about who will kill Cersei ever since she took over the Iron Throne in season 6.
The most logical choice? Jaime. It makes sense. Jaime, of course, got the name Kingslayer after killing the Mad King before he could use wildfire to destroy King’s Landing. So, naturally, he was pretty upset when Cersei blew up the Sept and took the Iron Throne. And that look he gave her in the season 6 finale made it clear things will be tense between the twins/lovers next season.
There’s also, of course, the “Valonqar” prophecy. In the books, Maggy the Frog told Cersei the “Valonqar” or “little brother,” will kill her. While Cersei and Jaime are twins, Jaime is technically younger. So he could fulfill the prophecy.
However, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has given conflicting statements on whether the theories are true. He previously said that the theory that Jaime will kill Cersei “absolutely makes sense” and would be a “perfect little nod.”
But when Mashable pressed him on it, he said he didn’t think Jaime would be capable of killing Cersei.

“I mean I don’t think he – I’m just saying it’s a valid theory,” he said. “I can see it makes sense, it has a beautiful – it’s a nice circle [that] they are born together in the womb and then he kills her at the end … It makes sense.”
“You could say that could – that the motivation for [Killing the Mad King] would be the same for killing Cersei,” he added, “but I haven’t seen anything yet before season seven that would make me believe he was capable of doing that.”
So Jaime may not be the one to kill Cersei after all. So if not him, who? There have been a few other theories about who could take the Mad Queen down:
1. Jon Snow
If Jaime doesn’t kill Cersei, the biggest theory is that Jon Snow will be the one to take her out. While “Valonqar” does mean “little brother,” that doesn’t necessarily mean that Cersei’s little brother will kill her. It could just be a little brother. Since we learned that Jon Snow is a Targaryen, that means he’s Rhaenys and Aegon’s little brother. And he definitely wants his revenge against Cersei. So some think that Jon Snow could be the little brother that kills Cersei.
2. Tyrion
Cersei has another little brother besides Jaime: Tyrion. And we all know that Cersei and Tyrion do not get along. While it would make sense for Tyrion to be the one to take Cersei down, it does seem a little too obvious.
3. Daenerys
A little brother may not kill Cersei at all. While the “Valonqar” prophecy was in the books, it never actually appeared in the Game of Thrones show. The show did include that someone younger and more beautiful will take everything away from Cersei, though. Well, Daenerys is on her way. So could she be the one to take down Cersei?
