Next week, Criminal Minds will be airing “Penelope,” the eighth episode of the third season which originally aired on November 21, 2007. This installment marked the appearance of Nicholas Brendon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), who became part of a storyline that saw the BAU team reuniting to determine if Garcia’s life is being threatened by a serial killer. The week after that, however, the police procedural will be airing a new episode that features two notable guests.
First up is Wil Wheaton, who first gained attention by starring in the 1986 Rob Reiner film Stand by Me. The 36-year-old actor will be appearing on Criminal Minds as the character Floyd Hansen in the episode called “Paradise.”
From 1987 to 1990, Wheaton appeared in the role of Wesley Crusher on Star Trek: The Next Generation throughout its first four seasons. And like many actors made popular by their role in the Star Trek franchise, much of Wheaton’s career has been limited to Trek-oriented appearances. During his youth, he was a prominently featured guest at Star Trek conventions and very popular in teen magazines.
Aside from Wheaton, whose other credits include Numb3rs, Teen Titans, and I Love the New Millennium, Criminal Minds has also enlisted William Mapother to join the cast in the same episode. Perhaps best known for his role as Ethan Rom on the television series Lost, Mapother has become widely known as a character actor who sometimes plays scary or otherwise dark characters. On Lost, his character was killed off early in the first season but since then has appeared in a couple of episode through flashbacks.
Mapother has also had considerable roles in a series of independent films, such as The Lather Effect, Moola and the upcoming Hurt, in which he stars alongside Melora Walters as the reclusive brother-in-law of Walters’ character.
